The Fellowship |
The Empowering Education Fellowship consists of three segments. The Fellowship is flexible based on the needs of Fellows, but the Fellowship broadly consists of the following:
I. SummerSelected Fellows from will meet each other and begin learning. Throughout the summer, Fellows will complete online learning modules focused on personal growth and leadership development. Fellows will be paired with a high school alum mentor based on their interests who will serve as a go-to resource for questions throughout the college application process. Fellows will ideate on their 'passion project'.

II. Sophomore/Junior YearFellows will be paired with a middle school students who are newcomers (e.g., ESL), are struggling academically, and who come from lower-income households. Fellows will run weekly cohort-wide mentorship sessions with their middle school mentees throughout the academic year. Participation will be free of charge to middle school students' families, and Fellows will receive compensation for their time. Fellows will continue to meet with their high school alum mentor throughout the academic year and pursue a 'passion project'.

III. Senior Year & BeyondFellows will continue meeting with their middle school mentee and high school alum mentor. Fellows will receive guidance in planning post-high school, using the Fellowship's network of alumni mentors as well as the online learning modules they completed previously. Fellows will finish their 'passion project,' sharing the project's findings with the community.
