Andrew Carlins ​- Founder ​

Bio: Hi, my name is Andrew Carlins, and I am a proud Oceanside High School graduate class of 2017. Since graduating Oceanside High School, I have worked with migrant/newcomer populations and nonprofit organizations across the US, Europe, and the Middle East to increase access to equitable education, healthcare, and employment. I have also taught ethics courses to students across five generations.  I am passionate about community-centered change and empowering underrepresented students to reach their greatest potential. It was with this background and passion that I decided to create the Empowering Education Fellowship. I am excited to see the impact that this Fellowship can create for public school systems and their communities!

Fiona Li - Managing Director

Bio: Hi, my name is Fiona Li, and I am a first-generation immigrant who was born and raised in China. After spending my first two years of high school in Arizona, I attended the University of California-Irvine, where I pursued a dual degree in education and business degrees, and later received my Master's degree from Duke University. My passion lies in content development, one-on-one tutoring, and college access programs for first-generation and international students. After joining Empowering Education, I’ve worked on developing scalable, student-centered programs and projects by utilizing strategic planning and AI-powered college access tools. I am excited to expand the impact of the Fellowship to a larger scope of student population, and to help Empowering Education into its next chapter of growth.

​I enjoy spending time on the beach and exploring cities to learn about the culture and lifestyle of different people.
